Shangdrok works with local herders and artisans in the Tibetan highlands, celebrating traditional textile techniques and the unique qualities of natural fibers.
Their Feathery Yak yarn is made from 100% yak down, woolen-spun into an incredibly light, airy and soft yarn that’s also wonderfully warm. The colors are dyed over the natural gray fleece, giving them a beautiful depth and richness.
This fingering-weight yarn comes in 50g skeins with approximately 300 yards. I think it would make gorgeous lightweight sweaters, shawls and accessories, either on its own or held double for a slightly more substantial fabric.
