The sixth year of the Indie Untangled Where We Knit yarn club brings together four new indie dyer and designer teams from around the world. Each pair will create a colorway and an accompanying accessory pattern, drawing inspiration from various places where they whip out their works in progress.
The club will start in February 2021. Every three months, you will receive one to two skeins of hand-dyed yarn in an exclusive colorway, a PDF pattern that will be exclusive for six months and a special gift based on the theme of each installment. After each installment ships out, you'll be invited to participate in an interactive Zoom interview with each team, learning more about their collaboration.
Here are the teams for 2021 (each of their inspiration photos are shown in the image here, clockwise starting from the top left):
~February~
Lanivendole and Soraya García
Home Blooms: Giulia and Stefania, who create rustic, hand-dyed yarns in Italy, will partner with Soraya, a native of Spain currently living in Amsterdam. Their inspiration is a photograph Soraya took in late winter 2020, showcasing the blooming of a new reality in a year filled with complex emotions.
~May~
Black Elephant and JimiKnits
Pomme D’amour: Spring and early summer brings together warm-weather knitting and the promise of new growth, via gardening and visits to the local farmer’s market. Petra, who lives in northern England, and Jimi, who is based in the south, will pay tribute to the colorful bounty of a warm-weather harvest. Photo by Amber Engle.
~August~
Humble Knit and Camille Descoteaux
Cozy Moments: Missing the coziness of knitting in cafes with friends, Naomi and Camille, both living in Montreal, are recreating these moments at home with a delicious hot drink in a beautiful mug, accompanied by a moody soundtrack and the perfect work-in-progress.
~November~
Murky Depths Dyeworks and Bristol Ivy
Autumn in Maine: Debbie, from New York, and Bristol, from central Maine, feel the first breath of fall in the air from the frost-tipped leaves of the lowbush blueberry plants.
