Pastora, which means shepherdess in the Catalan dialect, is a non-Superwash yarn made with wool from the from Ripollesa sheep, an endangered sheep breed from Catalonia, in Northeast Spain. The fleece was sent to one of the last scouring mills in the Iberian Peninsula and the yarn was spun and dyed in Catalonia.
It's a 3-ply DK- to light worsted-weight yarn with great stitch definition that is perfect for colorwork or cables. Each 50g skein has approximately 142 yards.
The suggested gauge is 16-20 sts and 24-28 rows on 4mm-5mm/US 6-8 needles, though we always recommend knitting a gauge swatch before starting a project.
